9/30/2006 using the video camera I just boughtI used the video camera today.
Since it's from the same manufacture Canon as the previous one that I had, it was easy to learn how to use it. The buttons are similarly located, and other things are also very similar. I thought the camera was slightly bigger than my previous one, but I realized there really wasn't much difference and it's very small.
In addition to the MiniDV tape for the movie, I inserted 512MB MiniSD for still pictures. That's something my old video camera didn't have, instead it had to record still pictures on the same tape as the video recording.
I haven't had a chance to look at the videos that I took today so I cannot comment on the quality of the pictures. Anyway, since I don't have a high resolution High Definition TV monitor, so that my TV won't show much difference. I don't believe I will find out for another few years until I might buy something big such as video projector.
I really enjoyed the compactness of the camera, So I think I made a right choice for me for this camera. ビデオカメラ使用購入したビデオカメラを早速使ってみた。
前持っていたカメラとメーカーはもとより形もほとんど同じでとても使い易かった。前々日にバッテリーを充電すべく電源アダプターを指しておいた積りが、電源プラグではなくイヤホンの所に差し込んであったことに前日になって気が付いた。仕方が無いのでその時点からきちんと電源プラグに差し込んで充電を開始。完全充電は出来なかったもののなんとか十分な容量だった。今朝ももう一つのバッテリーを朝のわずかな時間で充電した。やはり別売りの充電器も入手しないといけない。
バッテリーのトラブルはあったもののそれ以外は快調だった。前日に友人を引きずり回しながら購入した静止画用のMiniSDを差し込んで、静止画のほうも撮影を試みて見た。これは前のビデオカメラには付いていなかった機能だったので多少戸惑ったけど、よく出来ていると思う。手に持ったときのバランスや各スイッチの配置などもとてもよく出来ているようだ。唯一気になったのがズームするときのスイッチがテレ側とズーム側で逆のような気がして何回か間違ってしまった事だった。これはしばらくすれば慣れると思う。
実際の映像や画像はまだ観ていないのでなんともいえない。ただ家には高解像度のHDテレビなども無く、今まで撮ったものと変わらないのではと思っている。ここで次は大画面液晶モニターなどと進むのかも知れないが、当分買う予定は無い。
一日持ち歩いて使ってみて、やはり小ささというのは大きな利点だったと思う。それから以前の機種とほぼ同じ感じで使えるのも嬉しい。まあそういう訳で今回選んだビデオカメラはとりあえず大正解だったと思う。 9/28/2006 video camaraI have been thinking what to buy, but I made a decision.
What I bought was HV10 from Canon. It's high definition digital video camera with miniDV. Sony just released HDV with hard-disk, and I was actually waiting for it, and was going to buy it. However, when I actually saw the device, it really didn't hit me well, so I gave up on the hard-disk storage, and went for the Canon with MiniDV.
I have an old digital video camera also from Canon, and I have been using it for the last 10 years. Recently one spare battery died, and the remaining one also doesn't seem to be that healthy anymore. So, I used that as an excuse to upgrade to high-definition camera. It can also take still pictures, so that I also have to get a miniSD for that. ビデオカメラ購入ずっと迷っていたけど、迷い続けていても仕方が無いので決断した。
選択したのはキャノンのHDVビデオカメラHV10。実は他社のハードディスクタイプのHDVビデオカメラを待っていたのだけれど、実際に発売されて現物を見てみたら予想以上に大きかったので買うのをためらってしまった。その後悩んだ挙句ハードディスクを諦めてMiniDVを利用するこのビデオカメラを選択した。今まで使っていたのもキャノンの同じようなビデオカメラで10年近く前に買ったものだった。バッテリーが一つ壊れてしまい予備のバッテリーが無くなってしまった。10年も前のものなので店頭ではもう手に入らない。新しいバッテリーを買うことも考えたのだが、ズームの調子も今一つだし、まだ生きているバッテリーの方でも先日撮影中に突然落ちてしまい大切なシーンを撮り損ねてしまったので思い切って新しいものを買うことにしたという訳だ。
購入したのは新宿の○クラヤ。税込み133,000円でポイント２０％還元だった。ポイントで高容量バッテリーを二つ購入した。何やら小型三脚とそれとカメラが一緒に収納できるバッグをつけてくれた。隣接しているもう二つの量販店に行って値段を比較するといった元気は無かった。調べていないけど大差はないと思う（ことにしている）。ただしネットで相場は確認していてネットの『最安値』よりは高かったけど、それほど違わなかった。静止画用にMiniSDも買おうと思ったけど、２５６MBまでしか使えないと言われ、その説明を信じる事が出来なかったので後で調べて買う事にした。（案の定、家に戻って調べてみたら２５６MBという制限は無かった。） 9/27/2006 editing workI thought I was done with editing the book that I had been working on for my Karate club, but I was wrong.
It had some pictures, and many of them were in RGB which have to be converted to gray scale. I need to redo the pictures and paste them to the master document. I think it will be another day before I am done with it. I think the printing company is expecting me to work on it tonight and get it done, so that they can work on it on Friday.
By the way, we shipping Windows live Messenger for AU network today, and I am very happy with it  .記念誌編集今朝で終わったと思ったらまだだった。
使用している画像ファイルがRGBでこれがグレイスケールのものでないと駄目だそうだ。その辺のことで手間取って終わりだと思った作業がまだ続くことになる。グレイスケールに修正された画像を貼り付けなおして今度こそ終了となるだろう。ゴールを追加したと思ったらまだその先だったというのはちょっと辛い。
ちなみにこの一年続けていたAU版のメッセンジャーは今日無事出荷。これは非常に嬉しい 。9/25/2006 the frequency of my blog updateI haven't been posting an article every day these days, but maybe once every other day instead.
I suppose I can try, but I decided not to worry about the frequency anymore. There was time when I strictly kept this rule, and I tried my best effort not to miss posting an article every day. I guess the biggest factor is the fact that I am enjoying jogging a lot these days. I job about every other day and jog for one to two hours, or even almost three hours once in a while. That's a lot of time to be consumed in my "free" time. I do work during the day, and I do sleep during the night, so that my free time is not that much. I had been busy with editing a book for my Karate club, but it's almost done, and I don't spend much time on it anymore. In the past week, I was busy with editing video tapes that I took for a friend's wedding.
I guess it's good to keep doing something, but I don't think it's good if it becomes a religion. In that sense, I am happy to convince myself to get out of "post-a-blog-a-day" religion. I don't plan on make my jogging a religion either, but I want to take it easy on that, too. 最近の記事更新頻度について最近は記事の更新が毎日というわけにいかなくなっている。
無理をすれば何とかなるのかも知れないが、まず、あまり無理をしようと思わなくなっている。一時期などは必死になって毎日必ず更新するということをしていたので大きな変化だ。まあ大きな理由の一つに最近すっかりジョギングにはまっているというのもある。一日おきぐらいのペースとはいえ、１～２時間、場合によっては３時間近く身体を動かすことに費やしてしまうので何か他の事を削るしかない。日中は普通に仕事をしており、夜は睡眠を取っているので、プライベートな時間というのは限られている。その限られた時間の中でジョギングが占める割合はかなり大きい。前から続けていた記念誌編集の作業はほとんどかたが付いたので今は時間が割かれることがない。この一週間は先日撮影した結婚式のビデオの編集作業も忙しかった。
熱心になって続けるのは良いことだと思うのだけど、それを信仰の対象にしてしまうのは間違っている。そういう意味では『サイトを毎日更新しなければならない』という強迫観念に近いものから自分を解放したのはとてもよいことだと思っている。ジョギングも信仰にするつもりは全くないし、だらけつつやっていこうと思っている。 9/23/2006 Mt. FujiI can see Mt. Fuji from home today.
I don't recall being able to watch it during the summer, and I wonder if it had to with the humidity of the season. I guess it's now really the fall. 富士山今朝は久しぶりに富士山がみえた。
夏の間は湿った空気のせいか富士山がみえた記憶が無い。久しぶりに家からみえた富士山、もう秋なのだろう。 9/21/2006 jogging the wrong directionI tried to jog for the distance of a half marathon, which is about 21 kilometers.
My knees are in good shape and I don't get pain after jogging even for 15 kilometers a day in every other day, so I just wanted to try a bit more. However, I made one mistake and took the wrong direction. I realized I made a mistake when I found a train station which was familiar but shouldn't appear in front of me if I took the right direction. I had no choice, but went back to the way I just jogged for about a mile. So, my total distance was 24.1 kilometer when I was done for the day. I jogged very slowly, but I was happy that I made it.
I had 300 yen in my pocket to get some drink while I was jogging. I found a drink for 100 yen after about 12 kilometers, and spent another 150 yen for another drink when I realized I was on the wrong way. However, by the time I was almost done or very close to my apartment, I got very thirsty. But I had only 50 yen and I wouldn't be able to buy a can of drink with it. I should have brought just a bit more of coins. 逆走今日は初めてハーフマラソンの距離をジョギングする事に挑戦した。
最近は膝の調子も良く、ゆっくりだけど（一日おきぐらいで）一日に１５キロくらいは走れるようになったのでちょっと距離を伸ばしてみたという訳だ。ところが後半に道を間違えてしまい、一キロ半ほど家から逆の方向に走ってしまった。見覚えのある場所に出たので逆送してしまったことに気が付いて同じ道を戻る事にした。結局合計距離が２４キロ強ほどとなってしまった。一昨日は非常に調子が悪かったので、途中で歩いてしまうほどだったけど、今日は調子も良く、ゆっくりながらも完走できた。
途中で水分補給をするために３００円ほど小銭を持って出掛けた。途中１００円で売っている缶に入った飲料を飲んで、逆走に気が付いたちょっとあとに１５０円で５００ミリリットルのスポーツドリンクを買った。それでも最後になってのどがカラカラになってしまいもう１００円持っていかなかったことを後悔した。 9/19/2006 fallI am not sure if the Summer is over or not yet.
It's quite hot during the day, but I am positive the night is not the one in the Summer. The sound from the bugs is the one for the Fall, but not the one for the Summer.
There should be the time when it's hot but after Summer is called "ZANSHO" in Japanese, but I don't recall having the duration at all if the Summer is really over already. 秋もう秋になったのだろうか。
なったと思っていたら昼はかなり暑くなったりするのだけれど、夜は確実に真夏の夜ではない。道端で鳴いている虫が完全に秋の虫になっている。
もしもう秋だったのなら残暑は全く無かった気がする。 9/18/2006 adding a hard diskMy home computer ran out of disk space, and I bought an additional hard-drive.
I wanted to buy one with as big capacity as possible, but I found about 300GB is the current sweet spot, and gives the cheapest price per byte. I didn't have energy to go to Shinjuku or Akihabara, so that I went to a local store which is still a good one, but it's just one store of that kind in the city. They didn't have many choices, but I got what I wanted.
When I got home, I realized I was missing a SATA cable to connect the mother board and the hard disk. I had to go back to the store once again using the train and it was pain. While I do enjoy going to the store since it's like a toy store for me, but I don't need to go there twice a day.
After going home again, I installed the hard disk and everything went well. My original plan was finish installation by noon, but it was in the late afternoon when I finished formatting the hard-disk.
What I am going to do first with the additional capacity is read the digital video tapes which I took at a friend's wedding on Saturday. I think they would consume about 20GB, but now I don't have to work on deleting old files, etc. Then of course I have to finish editing the files to compose one hour video. ハードディスク増設家のパソコンのディスクスペースがなくなってきたのでハードディスクの増設を行なった。
出来るだけ容量の大きいものをと思ったもののやはり３００ＧＢあたりがスイートスポットのようでそれ以上だとバイトあたりの単価が上がっていき５００ＧＢあたりだと２５０ＧＢの倍よりかなり高い値段だった。祭日に新宿や秋葉原まで行く元気は無かったので近くの○ックカメラまで行って来た。まあ○ックカメラがそれほど遠くない所にあるというのは恵まれているのかもしれないが.....。購入したのはバッファローの３００ＧＢ。それほど多くないセレクションの中からはっきり言ってあまり考えずに購入した。
早速家に戻ってパソコン本体を開けてみたら接続コネクタはＳＡＴＡがあるもののケーブルが無いことに気が付いた。買ってきたハードディスクにも付いていなかった。何しろハードディスク増設など久しぶりの事なのでケーブルを買わなければいけないということまで気が廻らなかった。というかＳＡＴＡのハードディスク増設は初めてで勝手が分からなかった。仕方が無いので近所のパソコンショップを探してみるものの結局ＳＡＴＡケーブルなどはどこにもなくハードディスクを購入した○ックカメラにまた電車に乗って行くことになった。自分にとってはおもちゃやさんなので楽しいのだけれど一日に二回行っても余り面白くは無い。無駄な時間を使ってしまった。
また家に戻り、買ってきたケーブルを付けてみたら無事付いた。ハードディスクも問題なくケースに綺麗に収まり、ＮＴＦＳでのフォーマットも無事済んで完了。買出しも含めて午前中に終わると思っていたのに実際に全部が終わったのは夕方になってしまった。やはり二回同じところへ行かなければいけなかったのが痛かった。
さて、増設されたハードディスクでまず行なうのは週末にデジタルビデオで撮影した知人の結婚式のテープ読み込み。合計一時間半ぐらいのテープなので、恐らく２０ＧＢくらいは使うことになる。でもこれで古いファイルを削除したり何したりとやり繰りせず行なえるのでかなり嬉しい。そのあとは勿論編集作業ということになるがそれは遅くとも今週の土曜日までに済ませようと思っている。 9/17/2006 an old version of softwareI just realized I was running an old software to do some editing work even though I had been using the latest one until very recently.
It's a personal material, and I was doing that at home. In the past few days, I was feeling odd when I was using the software since the look of the software didn't seem 100% right, and there were some features stopped working a few days ago. Today, I checked the version of the software and found it's the previous version of the software. I uninstalled the old version, and updated the file association, and everything went back the way it was again.
I had no idea why I had kept the old version of the software, and why the old version started running again. Maybe I did something wrong when I was editing the doc at midnight when I was very sleepy. Meanwhile, I was impressed that the old version had the compatibility to edit the document that's created by the new version of the software and didn't damage anything.... 古いバージョンのソフトウェア編集作業を進めていたらいつの間にか古いソフトを使っていることに気が付いた。
私用でずっと続けている編集作業だったのだが、この数日なんだか変な感じがしていた。今まで使っていた機能、例えば検索機能が使えなくなっていたり、他にもいくつかおかしい事があった。様子が判らなかったのだが、本日ふと『もしや』と思って確認してみたらいつの間にか古いバージョンのソフトが起動していた。古いバージョンのソフトでも、新しいバージョンで作って保存したファイルも読み込めていたようで使えていた。古いソフトを削除して、新しいソフトで作成したドキュメントが開くようにしたら、きちんと元に戻った。
いったい、いつこうなってしまったのか分からないが、何度か真夜中に半分眠りながら編集作業をしていた時に何らかのミスをしてしまったのかも知れない。それにしてもそれなりに古いソフトも動いていたというのが凄い。 9/13/2006 cell phone strapThe cell phone strap that I have been using for one year was broken, and I got a new one.
My previous one had "MSN Mobile" printed on the blue band, but the plastic part in the middle got broken. It was still holding the other parts together, but I was afraid it'd be completely broken soon.
The new one is black, and it has "Microsoft", and http://www.microsoft.com/japan/jobs printed. Also it has a screen cleaner attached, and it has "X BOX" mark on the back side. I will see how long I am going to use this strap, or maybe I will get a new phone before this strap is broken this time. 携帯用ストラップ日本に来てから愛用していた携帯ストラップが壊れてしまったので、新しいのに付け替えた。
今まで使っていたのは「MSN Mobile」と入っていた青いものでかなり気に入っていた。ただし最近は印刷が取れてしまいただの青いストラップになっていたのだが、ここに来て、プラスチックの部分が割れてしまった。とりあえず使えそうではあったのだが、これ以上使っているとひもが取れてしまって携帯を落としてしまうなんていうことにもなりかねなかったので付け替えることにした。
今度つけたのは恐らく社内のイベントで手に入れたと思われる「X Box」と書かれた黒いストラップ。画面クリーナーつきでクリーナーの反対側に例の緑色のXマークが入っている。紐のところが弾力があり多少伸び縮みする感触が今までと違う。これが気に入るか、いやになるかで、今回つけたストラップをどれくらい使うかが決まる気がする。 |
